Which is best to use in Access Backgound images? Bitmaps are big, JPEGs are small. Even linking to the images the DB increases in size greater than the image kbs. Given that I am adding different backround images to five Tabs on one form the size has dramatically increased the size of the db. i.e. from 12 mb to 250MB !!! Any tips would be received gratefully

Use photoshop to "save as web"; it will reduce some file size.
Compact and Repair the database also.
Edit: Use jpgs or gifs

Use meta files as backgrounds. They stretch or shrink to the form size, regardless of the size. That's what Microsoft uses.

OK I have converted some images to wmf files and added them to my Access Forms as bacgground images. The file size for a .wmf file is about 2600kb as against a JPEG image of 100kb. Is there another reason to use a wmf file when the JPEG seems to be doing the same job as a linked imaged. As there will be 5 images (a different one on each tab) the size is significant even if its only linked. The DB also increases dramatically even if its just linked..any further tips? thanx Harold

Does your bmp or jpg strech like the wmf? An example usingf a jpg I tried did not. Are your linking or embedding the file? embedding it makes the database larger. In this day with giga/tera bytes to spare, does the size really matter?
