Linking my Database to a PDA

I'm going to give my business a massive IT upgrade, and I have come up with a plan. My ultimate plan is to equip my Businesses Vans with equipment (such as a PDA) linked to the Company database to alert my employees when they are in a area of interest. For Example, A customer owes my company money that is overdue, as one of my company vans enters the Post code area, the PDA alerts them. That’s just the tip of the ice berg though.
Any how I have no idea how I am to do this so I have a series of questions: -

1. I understand that MS Database isn't available on PDAs. Is there a way that Database can link with some other software? If not I will invest in some tablet PCs, although I would prefer the PDAs.

2. How the hell can I link the PDA/Tablet to my main database? Is there a way of keeping them updated by mobile internet? Or will I have to convince my employees to plug the PDA/Tablet into the home internet to update the database (that’s not going to work is it!)

There will be more questions, but these need to be answered before my next questions make since

Thanks

P.S. I would like to point out that I am a bit of a IT wizz, but I would admit that I'm always learning

I don't know specifics, but I know that WASP handhelds (i.e. WPA 206) use a windows operating system and can connect to the internet through a PCMCIA card.

Check it out, but it may be possible to maintain access to your company webpage remotely. As far as alerts telling your employees that they are in a certain zip code, that sounds like a GPS thing (way out of my league).
