Hello MS Access Experts,

I designed a form for my place of business. We do estimates for roofing and construction and the form is really basic in terms of MS Access and it's potential.

But I'd like to modify it to have it make certain calculations. The way I have it setup is... on the left of the form are different fields for. Shingles, Plywood, Metal Drip Edge, so on and so forth.

This is a line pretty much of the entire form: (noted this is only what it shows)

[checkbox] Tear Off [Shingles Text Field] First Layer [# of Sqs. Field] X [FIELD = Per Square] Per Sq. = [Field = Total]

This is the way I would like to set it up.

I dont' know if the check box would complicate things but here is my idea:
If Check - # of Sqs. X Price Per Sq. = Total Price

Then I would also like to have Total Price + All Checked Total Prices = Grand Total.

I don't know if that is too complicated. I don't know anything about MS Access other than adding fields to keep data into the Database. I played with the expressions but I couldn't figure it out.

I can't attach it... it's a 13mb file. But I will upload a screenshot clip to show you what I mean.

Ok so I Check the Box Tear Off (this does or doesn't have to really effect anything.)

What really is important is to have Price Per SQ be the default value (for that field which I can do).

The calculation I need ACCESS to do is.

Specified # of Squares (In the case of the screen it's 23)

Times the Price Per Sq ($45.00 for tear off)

Equals Total for Tear off ($1,035)

Very simple I think... I looked through the help file and tried

=TEAROFF1 * MUTIPLYER1

But I couldn't get that to do anything.

I cannot figure out what you really what to do until I see the actual database.

Try removing some of the object which are not part of the database so you can save space (make sure to do a backup of the original one.)

And then zip it...

I appreciate the offer but I will just go get a book.

I find it cofusing that you cannot understand that I simply want to do a mathematical problem.

1 x 2 = 2

Where 1 is the amount of squares entered and 2 is the defined price per sq.

But if it requires me to take apart the db file and such so you can get an idea of what I want to do. Then i'll just go buy a book.

Thanks again however
