Hi

Please can someone help me with this?

I need to create a huge report which spans across 4 pages. The report has many fields in it. Pages 3 and 4 of the report is just static text.

Pages 1 and 2 have lots of fields in them based on the query it is based on.

I have done this in the past by dragging the report page size to be extra wide and placing the next pages on the right hand side. This works fine - apart from today.

I have a report header (logo etc) and a detail section. The data content of all the pages is in this detail section. The problem I am having is on Page 2. When I preview the report - Page 1 is ok, but the detail on Page 2 is knocked down (as if the report header was still there - but it isnt).

I therefore have a lot of whitespace above the text for Page 2. The strange thing is that every other record is fine. When I scroll through the records - Page 2 (Detail) is at the top of the page for every other record apart from the first one. I hope that makes sense.

It is driving me crazy! I have tried messing around with grouping and sorting as well as forcing new pages etc but nothing I do seems to be able to fix this anomaly.

Can some enlighten me to why this is happening only on my first record?

Many Thanks in advance
Daz

Can you post your database? Or at least post some pictures of what it looks like?

May I also suggest you delete your other thread (using edit-delete)

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I have deleted the duplicate post.

I have attached 4 pics.

The first one is Page 1 of the report, the second one is Page 2.

The 3rd one is Page 2 for subsequent records - this is how I would like the report.

Page 4 is the design view - the red line shows where I dragged it across to allow for another page.

Apologies - the formatting is not done so the report looks a bit messy.

Thanks in advance
Daz

If you go too far to the right on the page then that will generate a new page but it’s a very haphazard way of trying to get a new page. So make sure you move everything back to within the page width as defined by your print layout and reduce the width of your page also.

If you want stuff in the detail to appear on a new page then put it below the stuff on the first page. Then insert a page-break between the two (from the toolbox toolbar) and further page breaks as required.

I don’t really understand why you have page 2 and page 3 duplicated? Are you saying that page 2 and page 3 are really sub-records of page 1? If this is the case then page 1 should be in its own section header. Then the page 2 layout will go in the detail and in the properties for the detail you can set the Force New Page to After Section.

Hi Chris

Many thanks for your help.

I simply put the addtional fields/info underneath and used a page break. :o

Cheers!
