Hi,
Has anyone had any issue putting BE_ on Onedrive?
Peter

It's not recommended practice. You will more than likely to experience corruption.

If the BE is to be shared, this will be bad enough to be unusable.

In particular, check user "snorble" response on this next link:

OneDrive doesn't like to share the drive among users. It might work in a single-user case, but to be honest, for single-user you would not have needed to split the DB anyway.

Agree with earlier comments. Exactly the same points apply to placing the BE on Google Drive, Dropbox etc. Just don't do it!

I heard somewhere the network drives like OneDrive do not like Access's lock file.

Some of the articles I've found suggest that you have to do something special in order to enable SMB3 usage on OneDrive, and lower levels of SMB aren't supported. I'm GUESSING they are not supported for security reasons but that's just a guess.

I don't know if Sage Accounts in the UK were successfully able to overcome the problem of having simultaneous updates of cloud data by multiple users.

They don't use databases but it's a similar issue. You work on a local copy and then have to synchronise the cloud version with the local version. It's very difficult if multiple users try to edit the data at the same time.

That would be an excellent reason to not use Sage at all.

I think that's how it does it. Obviously they want to try to give people multi-user facilities without needing a local server, as well as allowing access to offsite/non LAN-based users. Sage are a massive company - It's in the FTSE 100, equivalent to Fortune 500 in the US.

See this from 2018

Sage Drive Multi-User now available for Sage 50cloud - U.S. Edition! - Sage 50 US Support and Insights - Sage 50 US - Sage City Community

If Sage struggled with cloud based multi user, you can imagine it's distinctly non trivial.
