A raspberry pi pop-up shop is due to appear in four locations throughout the UK in 2023:-

I'm planning on going to the one in Southampton. Chance for a meetup with other access world forum members....

I've heard of crypto mining using one, sometimes with enhanced GPU's

I managed to download ARM64 version of Windows 11* onto a 32Gb SD card in the Raspberry Pi and works fine. Not a totally full copy but just a few bells & whistles missing, which is probably unimportant for day to day use. I did intend to install a copy of Access2010 but haven't got around to it yet. Taking this feed as a reminder, I'll maybe have a go in the next few days.

The Raspberry Pi is basically Linux based so maybe a problem with Windows users. But it is basically sound and I've several 32Gb SD cards as hard drives that I can interchange. Get the fastest card, which is the Samsung Endurance Pro. Although the more ubiquitous SanDisk are Ok but slower. Not noticeably slower but it shows up if you do speed tests.

Basically for £120 you have a computer, keyboard, mouse and cables to connect via HDMI to a screen.

* Windows11 for Raspberry Pi 4 maybe referred to as Windows11 for ARM64 is a slightly cutdown version. See Raspberrypi.com & associated sites/searches.

By means of an update, I've now installed Windows11 Pro on a Raspberry Pi4 and installed Access2010 RunTime and a program. The install is on a bootable 128USB, which is a bit oversize I know. Win11 takes 25.5 GB. The Access program runs just fine and at a more than acceptable speed. However, I will say that some Windows operations are a little peaceful. Explorer and working in System and Control Panel makes you wonder if it has locked up at times.

Towards the end of this month the Raspberry Pi5 should be available. That has a 2.4Ghz chip and 8GB of RAM, so it should be quite acceptable as a PC. I'll get one when they come off back order and on nextday delivery I'll buy one and give it a try.

(maybe this should be in the Hardware Q&A ?)
