Running Total

Hi folks,
Am using the running total option for monthly data. Is there anyway to have it reset at the beginning of a new year? In other words, data would be totaled up until December, and then in January of a new year it would reset and begin totaling until the December of that year, etc...

Try making a date parameter...A pop up that will allow you to enter start date and end date. This will give you days, monthly, or yearly count.

Actually, each record already has month and year included. Some records could span up to 3 years. So I guess I'd prefer the running sum to be automatic if possible, for each year.

Thanks for posting that. I understand what your saying. However, let me try to explain further by using your database. Lets say Record #1, Michael, made mothly payments beginning in 2003 and ending in 2005. My report currently will give that information, and then total all the payments made between 2003 and 2005 by Michael. I want to be able to have a running sum or subtotal of payments he made in 2003, payments he made in 2004, and payments he made in 2005. Any ideas?

Take a look at the attachment - the last page of the report you will see the grand total.

I'm afraid I'm still having trouble with this. Perhaps there is no solution, but it seems like something that should be possible. Attached is a sample report I have run. Is it possible for me to add Subtotal fields for the years 2004 and 2005. I see what you have done with the contract charges. They are summed for each year and only the totals are given. Would it be possible to include each individual contract for each client as well though?

Add a group for the year, simply set the RunningTotal for your textbox to OverGroup

I already have the report grouped by DATE, which concatenates Year and Month.

Hi folks,
I've attached a sample of the Database that includes the tables and queries the report is based on. I get the feeling it's not possible to do the yearly subtotals because of the way the data is queried and the way the report lays it out. But it seems like something that SHOULD be possible. If anyone runs the report, the records available are HP416, HP417, HP418, HP420, HP421.
