How to search in any part of a list box.
Is it possible to modify the attached example?

You can SEARCH anywhere.

The initial questions you should ask yourself are
- What do you want to search for and how do you provide the search parameters?
- What do you want to do when you FIND some / all hits?

In our latitudes, people also like to go mushroom hunting for the experience itself, as an experience in nature.

That's a good point. A list box/combo box is generally pre-designed to sort the data alphabetically to facilitate finding the entry you want. Generally the query used to fill the box ought to try to restrict the number of rows returned to a modest number.

If you want to search data generally for a particular string(s) then a list box/combo box most likely won't be the right solution..

Is my topic difficult and cannot be applied in Access?

No, but not making much sense?
You could have a textbox that you enter your data in and then search the listbox.

Is the listbox stupidly large?

your example show a combobox, not a listbox

there are numerous examples for filtering a combobox.

I think the term you are looking for is 'Find as you type' (FAYT)

here is an example
