Due to ongoing network problems causing database corruption, I have a fairly regular need to re-create databases by importing everything into a new database file.
The problem is, these are databases with user-level security. And after I do the import (using the same .mdw file, of course), all of the user-level security settings are lost. This is apparently by design. MS says importing "all" does not include security settings.
So, is there some way to import security settings? My user-level security is quite complex and it's a real pain to have to re-do it manually, from scratch.
I am currently working on doing it via VB, by writing all of my existing security settings to a table where I can retrieve the settings later. Is there an easier way??
