Stock Control Database

hi guys,

i have searched loads of threads to gather information and some ideas but i still can't quite find what im looking for.

i need a stock/"inventory" control database. Something that records stock coming in, stock going out, who buys stock and the current stock situation.

I'm not sure how the tables/relationships should be set up. i have attached one version of how it could look. what do you think? the other way i was thinking of was having orders, order details etc. whats the best way of doing it so that the stock qty gets updated etc.

I want a stock database that doubles up as a sales database. When someone buys stock i want it to be subtracted from the stock quantity. When new stock arrives i want to log the new stock by adding (either more quantity to existing stock) or adding a new item. I want to keep track of orders placed with suppliers etc. What tables/relationships would anyone suggest?

Take a look at the Inventory database and Sales Order Entry database that comes with Access as their example databases. This may give you some more ideas.

ye i have but i need something in between. the microsoft templates are very good but are too complex for my task. i need an inventory control and an orders management database. any other ideas?

Hi - can i bump this - i am in the same situation - how did you get on?

i too have looked at the templates and they are a little too much for my husband to use, he is not technical i need simple like you have asked for?

and table of stock, stock amounts, and orders
and a simple form that if order is placed, take it off the stock, if stock is added, add it to the stock etc.

the standard MS inventory template. (the one with the TEA dealer on the first record) is really very good

access is a technical product, though. you can't just use it like excel. you need to spend time to get the basics.
