Subdatasheets on tables

Subdatasheets on tables have sort of passed me by. I bumped into one the other day whilst mooching through someone else's database, having a looksee for interesting things.

I have never used one and now can think of no reason why I would - I never let end-users anywhere near my tables …

What are they for and why would you use one?

nope. I never let users see them either.
They are more for the admin it view and see sub data.

You are spot on!

They can be confusing even if you know what you are doing.

I suspect it's a feature for people who are used to excel, and are developing their own database for their own use.

As you quite rightly say you should never let your users near your tables.

Whilst I'm not a fan either you can also set up Subdatasheets on forms.

When I used to teach Access at GCSE and A level, beginners often really liked them.
More experienced users, less so.

I only used them on one application because I wanted to create a continuous form that contained a continuous form. I thought the effect was confusing so I never used it again. For the sake of efficiency, you should set subdatasheets to none unless you actually want to use them.
