Thumbnails appearing in bound object frame

Hi all

My form has a bound object frame that links to a table with OLE Object type

The user can drag bitmaps into the frame which are then stored in the table and displayed on the form

However after a time (it seems to randomly break on the computers in our office) the frame stops showing the image but instead shows a thumbnail with the file name. Here is an example of this:

Any idea why this is happening?

The fact it is "random" is suspicious but have you checked that the field's Display Type is Content not Icon on the affected machines? Just to rule out that?

Could it be an issue with the file rather than the DB? Like, it can't be opened by two machines at once?

The images are taken by a webcam so this has been tried with hundreds of images now, I've also reproduced the error multiple times on standalone machines with numerous images created in paint or downloaded from the internet

The problem occurs with 100% of images once the particular machine has 'broken'. Reinstalling windows and our software fixes the problem but only for a while,

Usually this happens, when new application changes the way the association for this filetype is processed. Compare HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bmp on "good" and "broken" machines.
