UK Post Codes - is there a way to 'search' in a geographical location?

I have inherited an Access database - I know zero about Access.

We are using this to retain the details of various clinicians (such as physio's) we work with across the UK for our patients. At the moment we enter the first few elements of a post code, i.e. RG22, but this will only find those who are in RG22.

Is there a way to add in a parameter of for example within 20 miles of this postcode, so we could try to find as many matches near to the patient as possible?

We do not have any maps linked with our Access system.

Is this do-able? If so any ideas of where to look for help with this would be much appreciated.

Wendy, your best bet is to use the forum's SEARCH ability to look for "post code" or "postcode" because I remember seeing MANY articles involving the geography of post codes. You can also search for "ZIP Code" which is the USA version of postcodes.
