Advantages like inbuilt speakers and other features.
Are there any disadvantages in particular. Please Explain. Thanks.

you can use a tv as a monitor,
plus the Smart Tv's (usu all of them are smart now) will have apps to stream various services: netflix, prime, etc.
stream from devices
smart tv's now at walmart in 98" size

TVs and monitors are slowly merging. I don't use actual monitors any more.

Monitor Pros: slightly cheaper, slightly simpler to use
TV pros: has a remote control, built in local channel antenna, more functionality, can repurpose as actual TV in another part of the house when you upgrade computer monitor, usually more inputs (AV composite inputs)

TVs didn't used to have the resolution that purpose built monitors do. TVs are getting better but why pay for a tuner and all the other "smart" crap when a monitor will be much cheaper. Using an all-in-one means you get mediocre performance rather than excellence where you need it. If you're a gamer, you need a very fast refresh rate or you see blurs as objects move. If you are into music, you probably want a good sound system, etc.

A TV comes with more "baggage" (functions that require extra circuitry) than monitors.

If you want to repurpose a TV, you can. A monitor on the other hand might have to have something extra - like a sound bar and an external tuner for TV channels.

The answer is always going to be "What do you want to do with it?"

As The_doc_man says - it all depends. My two 26" monitors attached to my desktop cost less together than half the price of my my TV and they are permanently attached in my study/office so there would be no sense in using a TV. However, as you can see that choice is based on the fact that I 1) have a desktop set up permanently and 2) I'm lucky enough to have a study. If I was surviving with a laptop in a small one bed flat I can easily see using a TV.

Another thought came to me... Streaming services through your computer's monitor and speakers will show you a movie without commercials if have the right kind of subscription. You have no need for a special tuner because streaming is based on an end-to-end protocol, unlike cable TV which is a multiplexed protocol that requires a tuner to select one thread from many.

Disadvantages - only a few programs can be directly cast (like Chrome) to your smart tv, so you might be dealing with some real long HDMI cables.
Most tv's and monitors both have built in sound nowadays.
I would think your average cheap smart tv would have lower visual quality than your average cheap monitor, all else being equal - but not certain on all that.
You might actually get tired of seeing things on such a huge screen! but it would be fun to try, if the TV isn't too close to your face.
Lastly, then you can't watch tv while working! LOL

The larger the TV, the further away from you it was probably designed to be viewed from.

85" TV is best viewed at about 8.6 to around 10 or 11 ft.
