Importing HTML table results into a table

A lot of useful ideas and advice but no one appears to have asked the obvious question. The data is sent in a tabular format so almost certainly originates in a tabular format. Is there any good reason why the originator can't be asked to forward it in a suitable format for import? CSV...

    Basic help needed

It's nice to common sense prevail. I am an experienced Access programmer and could probably knock together to do this quite easily but would probably continue to do it manually for this job. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

    Is it Actually Racist?

I did - remarkably politely all things considered.

    Is it Actually Racist?

The thing I've never understood about reparations mostly related to slavery is all the demands are made to us the buyers of the slaves, and not to Ghana, Benin, Nigeria and the rest of west Africa who Sold the slaves? They are as, if not more, guilty. Same with apologies - why would I...

    Is it Actually Racist?

So what counts as racism? I was in my local Morrison's supermarket when they had a promotion on West Indian food, which as I dislike fruit with meat I'm not really fond of although there are plenty of West Indian dishes I do quite like. I mentioned to my wife in passing that I didn't really...

The_Doc_Man is off for a while

We have three Lime trees behind our property which are a nuisance because of their droppings, the fact they are diseased, and block out the light! They aren't mine but I'd be delighted to pay to get them removed, however, in UK we have these delightful things called Tree Preservation Orders...

    Bank Reconciliation & Accounting Program

Whilst I recommend the MM Ex application don't forget in any evaluation the elephant in the room - data transfer from old to new.. Not knowing the data structure of your current system I wouldn't know, but it is easy to manipulate SQLite which MM Ex uses and import from most SQL Databases. MM...

    Bank Reconciliation & Accounting Program

As I've agreed all along this is not a task for an Access process - my initial input came from gemma's initial assertion- "A bank rec is the last thing I would bother about" - that any such reconciliation wasn't worthwhile.

    Bank Reconciliation & Accounting Program

I obviously misunderstood your comment about BS reconciliation being unnecessary: and by definition I don't expect to do a BSR in code. The whole point is that it is an exercise to be aware of your situation. As to my dislike of keeping accounts on a spreadsheet it comes from regularly...

    Bank Reconciliation & Accounting Program

I too am a qualified accountant and am baffled by your querying the need for a bank reconciliation which the basis for due diligence on any account whether automated or on paper. I feel that your reply is biased towards large scale accounying: such things as nominal, purchase, sales ledgers...

    Bank Reconciliation & Accounting Program

My recommendation would be to use Money Manger Ex - its free! And works well. MM Ex website. It uses SQLIte for data storage. You'd have to customise it to suit your needs, however. I have run Scouts and PTA accounts using it. Whatever you do I suspect you'll have a lot of work.

Am I the only one that switches ABBA off?

My "As long as you can agree what R&R and Blues are of course!" was actually semi-serious. The Blues of Ma Rainey in the 1920s is wildly different to that of Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan etc a century later, and a common cause of argument amongst aficionados.

Am I the only one that switches ABBA off?

I have to thank / congratulate Cotswold for starting this thread - most fun on this site for ages. Roll on more dogmatic statements with no basis in provable facts. I think my prejudices are better than yours!

Am I the only one that switches ABBA off?

I just tend to tend to agree with Tom Lehrer's description - "Rock & Roll and other children's music".

Am I the only one that switches ABBA off?

Moot point in reality - do the 7,400+ tracks truly have any value as they are all a single instance of items held (legally) elsewhere? (To American readers this assessment is based on UK Law as decided by precedent in court decisions which allows you to copy for personal use and security any...

    Solved Large cte problems

Thanks to the members who put me straight - I wonder when they started to be called CTEs - they were just 'WITH expressions' in my days of using major SQL variants remotely. (A long time ago). Using just Access SQL these days one forgets things like INTERSECT and EXCEPT which I used in days past.

Encountered strange interaction between Excel data and MS Access Link / Import

Bitter experience says you should ALWAYS define formats for every cell in use in spreadsheet to avoid such problems.

To show my ignorance what does the TLA cte mean in this context. The only cte I know is a brain condition!
