The Canadian province of Ontario has announced proposed legislation that will ban .com on-line gaming. It will also ban advertising of such sites in the province.
The province claims the legislation is being proposed at the insistance of the horse racing industry who claim that their takings are off due to people playing on-line poker and other games.

THE QUOTE PAUL HARVEY, HERE'S THE REST OF THE STORY

Ontario runs slot machine parlours at the race tracks across the province. In Canada casinos and slot parlours are a monopoly of the provinces. The province doesn't want the competition. How the province intends to prosecute on-line operations outside Ontario (or outside Canada for that matter) is a little vague.
It does present an interesting situation. If a .com gaming operation advertises on the boards of say the Vancouver Canucks home rink in British Columbia and the game is being broadcast nationally, will the TV Network be prosecuted.
I think a little more thought is required.
We won't even go into the fact that most .com gamers don't advertise anyway. They get you hooked on the free .net operation and then invite you to the .com to play for actual money.
