Access 2000 format, does anyone know how to change the password assigned to a user in the system.mdw? The security wizard says to click on the user to change the password, but nothing happens when I do that.

If you have Administrative Rights on the database then you can do this.
  1. Open the database.
  2. Goto Tools - - > Security - - > User and Group Accounts. (See the attached im age.)
  3. Select the User Name in the Name control, under the User heading, you want remove the existing password.
  4. Click on the Clear Password Command Button.
  5. Click OK Command Button to close the Security Dialog box.
  6. Close the Database.

Now, this User can open a database and Login without a password. After opening the database the User can set a password himself/herself.

  1. If you would like to set a password yourself for the User then Open the database.
  2. Login with the User Name and without a password.
  3. Goto Tools - - > Security - - > User and Group Accounts.
  4. Select Change Logon Password Tab.
  5. Leave the Old Password control empty.
  6. Type a new password.
  7. Verify the password.
  8. Click Apply and Click OK to close the Security dialog control.
  9. Communicate the new password to the User.
