Application Does not Run

Hello,

I have two applications that are identical except for which database they connect to. These are Access 2013 applications that connect to a local SQL server that has two databases (one for each application, the only difference to the apps). Both applications function fine on my local machine. When I move them to the machine that will be using the applications one works, and the second will not. On the application that does not run, I get the error:

Microsoft SQL Server Login
Connection failed:
SQL State: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 53
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]
Connection open
(connect ( ) )
Connection failed:
SQL State: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 17

The application is looking for the server I had on my local machine (assuming because of the linked tables), but when I moved the first application over I was able to just shift click into the application and remove old links and re link my new database. I can not do this on the second application for some reason and it is becoming very irritating.

Any thoughts or suggestions on what I can do will be appreciated.

Thanks,
EFox

This is more a SQL Server question than an Access issue. Check the help files for what that error number relates to.

I have been looking through SQL documentation, but I thought it was a little strange that I couldn't even open the application in development mode using the shift mouse clicks. It could turn out to be all a SQL issue but I just thought that part of it was strange. Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like the application is completely locked down. You will need to contact the developer for the development copy.

Check online for the error code 53. Or you could ask the SQL Server experts in an appropriate forum.
