We are running a Cold Fusion web site using Microsoft Access.

Could we please have a suggestion as to what we should upgrade to?

Thank you.

That question really raises more questions than anything. Give us more context--why upgrading? who will be doing it? budget? other concerns.

Thank you plog for your question.

One of our clients is using an Access 2003 database to populate the data searches on their Cold Fusion web site.

The CF software has been moved to a new windows 10 Server and every time a Search is created the error message that appears is;

The web site you are accessing has experienced an unexpected error.
Please contact the website administrator

Thank you.

So, the web administrator needs to dig into that. They should be able to get the actual error logs to find the specific cause.

Now you say it's a MS windows 10 machine which means it's probably IIS, which means vb or c# for coding and Ms server for the database. However php and python are still available for coding and MySQL and postgres or even SQLite for the database.

Thank you for your suggestions.

The Web Hosting company keeps finding a file = IDB = which MsAcces is creating and causing the website to crash.

This IDB is deleted and the web site is running properly.

Has anyone else had this problem and how was it fixed.

Thank you
Paul

.ldb is an access lock file.
One will be created every time the file is opened, it should automatically disappear when the database is closed.

The LDB file should be deleted automatically once the last active connection to the Access database is closed. - This might happen very rarely in a web server scenario, as there might be a continuous stream of visitors and even without any active visitors the web server process might keep the connection alive for quite some time. - The Cold Fusion documentation should cover this!

If there were recent changes to the configuration of the website, you (or whoever is responsible) should check the permissions of the web server process identity on the directory the Access database is in. Read/Write/Delete access on the *directory* is required.
