I have a report in Access. It its Detail section, there is a control that lists tables. The report prints just fine, listing each table after another down the page. However, these tables take up a lot of space going down the page, looking something like this:

[Lots of blank space]GA086[Lots of blank space]
[Lots of blank space]GA088[Lots of blank space]
[Lots of blank space]GA089[Lots of blank space]
[Lots of blank space]GA092[Lots of blank space]

My question is: Is there a way to have them listed left to right instead?

Thank you,

Don't know if this will help or not. When I wanted my reports to print the months across the top rather than down I had to create a crosstab query which my report was then attached to.

Take a look at the GRP Keep together property of the report. You should be able to establish columns based on that property along with the width property.

Thank you both for your advice.

Amileaux: I tried the crosstab, and it did break it out left to right, but made a column for each value in the field (ie. column GA086, column GA089, etc.). This led to a lot of blank columns, so I can't use it. Thanks, though.

GumbyD: I tried the report with Grp Keep Together on the Per Page and Per Column setting. Each time, the table names were still going down. Thank you for the idea.

Thanks, Pat:

I tried this approach, but couldn't get it to work right. The theory is sound, though, so I'll just keep trying until I get it (ie. I'm probably making a stupid mistake that I don't see right now).

PS: I remember reading a while ago that you were considering writing a book. Is that still in the works? I ask because you're very good at giving information without being confusing.

Thanks again,

Steve Geller
