can someone tell me how disabled people get money in the UK in order to live? Do they have something similar to social security over there?

I thought the needy people queued up outside Buckingham Palace and the Queen gave out bread.

There are various disability benefits available in the UK. Eligible people have to go through vigorous medical examinations in order to identify the severity of disability. The two main benefits offer the bulk of income but there are other benefits for carers for example, you can get free car tax, free parking and reduced housing tax (known as Council Tax). You can also get government help for professional carers to come in at intervals throughout the day, you also get financial assistance for living in a care home, the amount varies depending upon the outcome of a means test.

The Queen is not at Buckingham Palace, she is at Windsor Castle suffering from Covid, which for a 95 year old is fairly serious.
Bread is readily available in bread shops and supermarkets, no foods are currently rationed.

In the UK we call government money assistance 'benefits'. To put it simply, the government support disabled people by giving money on a 28 day cycle.the amount is variable.

Your comment to what Cronk said. I believe he was making a joke.

In the UK, the Queen (God bless her) does not give out food. We have food banks that give food to poor families - providing they meet the eligible criteria.

Actually, Col, we have similar situations in the USA regarding supplemental income and food paid from national taxes. So it is not a big surprise. I guess I would be more surprised if you DIDN'T have something similar (broad-brush) to what we did. Details might be different. Result is the same.

Yes, I just wanted to clarify it has nothing to do with the Royal Household or Buckingham Palace.

As some have already noted, Cronk is inclined to make statements that exaggerate to the extremely ridiculous. But then a French queen did make reference that if the masses could not get bread they should eat cake not too long before her head separated from her body.
