Walked into the PC repair place with fire in my eye. Told them what had happened. They fixed it on the spot. Just a matter of one more SATA cable. Now everything works again. Got to start reloading game files. At least my Outlook e-mail is up now and MS Office is reloaded including Access.

I figured it was a cable. Attention to detail can be stupid in these places.

The tech who talked to me wasn't the guy who had done the other work. However, he was appropriately apologetic regarding the error his shop had made and took it upon himself to make it right. I will probably still buy stuff from them because they actually have some nice upgrade and replacement devices. It will get to the point that they dread seeing me because even though I pay cash on the spot (or at least, credit card...) they know I am savvy enough to catch them in bad things. And the only reason I don't do as much of that as I used to is that I'm tired of my knuckles getting all cut up on sharp edges.

I understand. I used to love building machines, but with doing the work I do all day, I don't want to touch computers when I get home.

I was just the opposite, I would use DOS Debug to edit the boot sector. Then re-edit and force a reboot. "Changing the flags", the good old days.;)

Dick, I'm with you on that one, buddy. But the truth is, I would probably welcome a break if I'm still working on this when your visit time comes around.
