Hi all, I am dragging & dropping images into a table. (I need to be able to see 20-25 records at a time so it's easier for me than using a form, at least as far as my knowlege goes) The question I have is... Is it possible to simply link the file to the db or does entering the data this way force me to embed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

Have you tried dragging and dropping with the right mouse button?

Hi again, I gave right clicking & dragging a try. I'm not sure if it made a difference. I can't seem to find a way to determine if it is linked or embedded. On the table it just says "bitmap image". How can I find out which it is? I apologize if this is a basic question, I've got lots to learn.

A crude way to tell is to jot down the size of your Db, add a few pictures then jot down the new size (after compacting both times). Embedded pictures cause huge bloat in a Db and often need more storage space than the physical size of the pic. I cannot think of any other way of determining if the pic is linked or embedded but I think if your field is set to ole object, it is likely embedded.
