Is there any way to eliminate the boarder on a report in Access. I need to print this as an invers image. White on black and the ink must go to the edge of the paper.

I'm not sure this is an Access function, but rather a function of the printer (and driver) that you're using. I have a couple of different printers, and their drivers require me to set margins at specific minimums which the printers can handle. Each printer is different.

In Access, you can try going to File / Page Setup and see if you can set the printer margins to 0", but I doubt it will let you.

Short of that- print as is and trim pages to eliminate margins? It'll give you off-sized reports.

Good luck.

Hi grnzbra,

Most printers will not print right up to the edge of the paper, they have an 'unprintable area'.

To do what you want, I would think that you need to print your report oversize on a larger sheet of paper (A3 say) and crop to size (A4). Tedious to say the least :D

If you are setting your report margins too narrow in design view, Access gives an error about printable area and places any overrun on a separate sheet.

If what you are doing is very important, a professional print shop may be able to help as they do print on oversize paper and crop to suit the job. Not sure how you would go about preparing file for them though.

Best of luck.

I have an HP photo printer that prints boarderless pictures. The problem is that I think I'm going to be feeding it prints that have a border built in. However, I do believe that I'll have to go to a printer. I just thougt someone might know a work around.

With a borderless printer, you can set the margins on a report to be 0" and, while you may get an error message, you should be able to bypass it by setting the print borderless setting on your printer. I do it on a Canon S820. It may be worth trying on a page to see if it will work.

I know that it may not work, depending on your printer, but I can basically print anything borderless on my Canon.

Whew, I'm glad I said 'most' printers can't print up to the edge or I'd be back in 'oops!' mode. :)

grnzbra,

I'm a bit curious. Databases are normally more concerned with the data than the graphics, although formatting of reports is important. It may be that what you want to do would be better accomplished by exporting the report data into some other package that has more graphics capabilities. Of course, that could open a whole world of grief on its own :D

I am trying to print ham radio QSL cards from the log which is in Access. These cards usually carry some kind of graphic along with the call letters in rather large type. They also carry the station location plus some info, usually hand written in about the contact. This info comes from the log, so it could be entered automatically.

These cards (4"x6" - not one of the sizes in Access) are, many times, displayed on the wall of the radio room. In order to get this to stand out in a wall full of cards, I am creating a solid black card with the call in yellow 80 pt Ariel Black Bold Italic (6 capital letters just fit in 6 inches). At the bottom of the card in 10 pt will be the info about the station location and contact. (I set up a Power Point slide like this and visually it hits like a ton of bricks)

It would be very nice if these could be printed straight from Access without having to convert to different formats. When I run it to a b&w laser printer, the copy quality is great. I tried it in Power Point, but when I reduced it to print 4x6, the copy quality went to pieces. Also, I'd have to hand write the contact info on the back.

I've looked into having it done by a printer and it could be done and I could possibly run the cards through the laser printer to print contact info on the back but I really don't need 5000 of these cards and it would be preferable to have the contact info on the front.

It's nothing to do with Access if your printer doesn't support this size, have you tried using the Custom setting for your printer?
