Finding Users logged into Access

Hi everyone,

I have Access 2002, (Windows XP) setup in multi-user environment. Each user logins into the Access with their user account and password setup in Access. One problem I have noticed with this is that I am not able to make any design changes when there is more than one user logged into Access.

Therefore, I would like to know if there is a way to determine who is logged onto Access. I am not familiar with coding in Access or VB. I do know most of the features of Access and I am not able to find how to find the users logged in. Any help on this would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In Windows XP check out Administrative Tools->Computer Management->System Tools->Shared Folders, and then both Sessions and Open Files will give you some information about what other computers have opened files on your machine.

alternatively opening your databases ldb file in notepad will give you the machine names that are accessing the database.

I am taking this... and making a similar module in my database to capture it's information... and ask for the user to input their name (if the user hasn't inputted in the past). This information will be stored in a table so that I can easily see who's in the database... and who's not.

Is there a more current version of this App? We use XP machines with most having Office 2007, although all of our db are 2003.
