Have you guys ever used this scheduling tool from FMS Software that will do a nightly archive and compact/repair.

I tried it out on our live database (not so smart I guess) on a Friday and when I came in Monay it was corrupted. It seems to point to the FMS software corrupting my db.

I wanted to validate and use this software but ain't sure it I will now.

I like the nightly compact/repair. Is there another way to do that with Windows Scheduling or something?

Take a look:

Have you contacted FMS about troubleshooting with their product?

As to a nightly Access action...

See if you can build a Macro or a Macro with RunCode that will do what you want it to do. Then read up on the command-line options of Access, one of which is the /X macro-name option that lets you run an arbitrary macro when you launch Access. To make this work right, the macro has to Quit the Access application when it is done.

Then go into Windows Task Scheduler and launch your DB file with the /X option and the macro name, set for the time and day of the week as needed.

Search this forum for "Macros" and "/X option" or "/X command option" or something like that. You'll see a bunch of threads on the details and various evaluations of the viability of this approach.
