Greetings

I am Patrick in Miami Florida. I have been experimenting with Access for a while and learned a lot through Youtube and this forum. I am working through a new application where I look to apply new things; such as sending emails from the applications directly and automatically.

I am exited to finally register to this forum and hope I will get better and find solutions faster.

I started this new application to email receipts to customers daily and realized that not everyone uses or have outlook on their computers. I thought cdo was the answer, but I get an error and can't find a solution for using gmail's smtp

Hi. Welcome to AWF!

Hello, Patrick, and welcome to the forum.

If your problem is sending e-mail, it is possible to use something called CDO to send mail without a specific mail utility (like Outlook) on your system. You DO need to have a target SMTP server on your network, but the client machines can be plain-old Windows boxes.

Thank you. I have been trying the cdo option. I think I finally got it to send the email.
I will probably ask help to set it up in a more secure way. I am not sure I understand the Password APP option of gmail

CDO is a good product but I never used it with a password option so won't be able to get that specific. Then again, our e-mail gateway didn't care about passwords anyway. It was an intranet system from our viewpoint, so we had to already be logged in on the network to get to it in the first place.
