Thought I would let you know about my redneck Saturday night on this beautiful Easter weekend. Sitting here on the porch 'justa swingin', drinking a good cold one, watching the squirrels scurrying to get that last buried nut before the sun goes down, the chickens trying to get that last bug before they hit the roost, watching the doves scramble for that last kernel of corn, I had thrown out in the yard not 15 minutes before while watching the crimson southern sunset to the west, streaked with orange and blue spears dotted with a few pillows of dingy billowing clouds. Somewhere in the back of my slowly deteriorating mind, I see the past as if it were yesterday and all the friends I had and mostly still have (a lot of them have died) today. Some were jocs, some where nerds, some were beautiful, some were not, some were rich, most were poor, the majority were straight and a few became closet queens or queenettes. They were still my friends then and still are today. I have no doubt that if I ever called they would be there for me and if they called, I would gladly help in anyway I could. It is said the most people can count their good friends, the ones that will help when you most need it, by the fingers on their own two hands. I am indeed blessed to have as many true friends as I do. Whoa!,,,,,, somebody's dog just decided to make an appearance on the far side of the yard next to the woods. Too bad for him because I had him in my sights long before he had made three steps in the direction of the chickens.Surprisingly, he actually yelped one time, jumped in the air trying to get traction where there was none then hit the ground.................................already running toward the hole in the fence he had just come through not sixty seconds before. Yes, for all you pooch lovers out there, he is just fine, no blood and guts as you were just thinking. So don't go get your crying/weeping towels out just yet. My gun of choice, was a 4.5 mm BB gun. Of course, had he not made the good decision to make a early and rapid exit, he would not have made one at all. Oh well, hopefully that is the peak of the excitement for this Saturday night. NCAA finals are on and my bet is on Kentucky. Hope all of you have a nice and blessed weekend where ever you are!
