I am building a database for a charity, to support their general operations. The intention is to include information on supporters, volunteers, holiday club parents and children etc.
I have experience of working on a CRM, which provides me with a basic design framework for many-to-many relationships between contacts, organisations, events, tasks, documents, project and email etc.
I have realised that Access is not capable of supporting the volume of data that is likely to accumulate, so I am using an external SQL Server for the data storage. But, after careful consideration, I think Access is a good front-end, for presenting the data and also connecting with other office tools, especially outlook.

Outlook is particularly important in this design as it has pre-built handling of the main entities - contacts/organisations, events/appointments, and tasks. So, I don't have to deal with all their details. But, I need good integration with outlook, and seem to be doing well with that.

I could go on, but that is enough to begin with....

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Yes, Access is quite capable of working with Outlook, Word, and Excel. I've heard of folks even using it with PowerPoint but I've never tried that.
