I am making a database to coordinate the activities of my band (how rock and roll!)...

Is there a way I can somehow host the file remotely, and have users (4 total) access that file through their own computer using access, so they can write, edit, delete records?

We have a db at my work that we use like this, accessing from multiple computers, though this is on a network drive.

I'm not the greatest at networking but think you could do that with a VPN We use a program called Hamachi For our VPN's.

Hope it helps

If you wish to maintain privacy, you can use Windows itself to encrypt a message from machine A to machine B. Do a GOOGLE search for the topic "IPSEC" as a starting point, and also visit the Microsoft site to search their knowledge base for setting up an IPSEC connection.

All other parts of what you describe are fairly straightforward. Word of caution: If we are talking wireless networks, you not only have a security issue, you will also have some speed issues unless the database is really very small. You can search this forum for "Wireless" and get more feedback on this touchy subject.
