How to change Number field to AutoNumber in form (1 Viewer)

Hello guys,

I have this form where I have a field OrdNum which is Number now I want to convert to AutoNumber how I can achieve this ? as I inserted before the old OrdNum and other fields from old database now user wants old record and OrdNum should be autonumber starts with 2501.
As i am changing the type it doesn't allow saying that you can't change as values are already inserted.

So please help me out asap.

You can create a new column that is autonumber. If the old OrdNum is completely sequential you should get the same numbers.

Thanks for reply, but I want to start my OrdNum with 2501 so how I can achieve that ? I am not expert in access so can you please elaborate it ?

But you still have to have the old stuff in your DB as well dont you??

The easy way is to (temporarily) add blank records untill you reach the desired number.

Another way is to use the forums search function and find this:
