When I join the workgroup, it applies security to every database on my computer. The database is on shared drive, and my other dbs are not on this drive. any ideas? Thanks.
Thanks! This link is very helpful. Can you explain exactly what goes into the "target" and "start in" fields of the shortcut? I will be using the \\Server\Directory\.. method. Do I need to create an individual shortcut for each user?

If you don't want to have to manually create these - do a Google search on Headway Shortcut Builder (a free tool which makes it extremely easy to create the shortcuts). And no, you don't need a special one for each user. The MDW file should be on a network location where all can access it.
the Security.mdw file is on the shared drive. In the shortcut properties, the target points to the security file, and the start in points to the database frontend file. When I open the shortcut, the security file opens. What am I doing wrong?

Don't know - what do you have for a shortcut file? Like I said, the Headway Shortcut Builder takes all of the guesswork out and makes it super easy. I like using it for mine so I don't even have to mess with it.
I got the shortcut to work. I didnt realize I have to point to 3 different files in the target area. Will the first part in the target area, "c:\programfiles..." work for all of the users? Now that I have the shortcut setup, do the users access it off of the shared drive or should they copy it onto their desktop? Thanks.
Thanks! My fingers are crossed that the msaccess.exe file is saved in a standard location, since people are in different buildings it is hard to verify. Thanks again for your quick response.
If the msaccess.exe file is located in a different folder for each user, is there a way to make the shortcut work without configuring the shortcut on each computer? This would be alot easier if the user's computers were in one location, but they're not. Can I save the msaccess.exe file to the server? then point to it from there? I am trying to standardize this so I don't have to configure individually. Thanks.
