minus&negative data in query

I need to put a minus sign in front of my figures in a query but i cant change the underlying table as i am going to append the negatives to a new table any helpadvice would be great to how i put minus signs b4 them.

Multiply them in a calculated field by -1

Mile this didnt work as if i have 0.75 i want to see -0.75 where as multiplying that field my minus one give me -3.50
any help cheers
