Need help.
I have a database that I keep stats in for a league. It has multiple forms, subforms, reports in it. It starts with a timed splash screen that then opens to the switchboard.
Last night after entering the data and running the reports there was an error and the database closed. I was not able to read the error as it closed rather fast.
When I went to re-open nothing happened when I clicked on the access Icon. I am using access 2000.
I open another database so it is not access itself it is something with this database. I attempted to run the repair but it will not run either. I rebooted the machine and still acts the same way. the file in explorer shows that the file exists it is not 0 out in size.
I am wondering if there was a coruption in the programming with the splash screen timing into the switchboard but I do not know how to bypass it to try to open it.
WOuld greatly appreciate any help in this matter. My backup is you guessed it a few weeks old so I would have to rekey in data and re do report edits. Will be better at backup hence on.
Thanks for any Ideas you may have to offer.

You should be able to bypass the Autoexec macro by holding down the shift key as you enter the database. That should take you to the database window. If you cannot get in that way you may want to download JetComp from Microsoft (free download) and attempt to use that utility to compact the database.

Good Luck!

Thanks I tried both the shift and the Jetcomp program but get the same result.
Any other Ideas?

You are in a bad way my friend. You may be able to decompile the database and get back in, but it is a long shot. If you go to google and search Access Decompile you will find some information on how to do it and what it does. Good Luck.

Thanks I thought I might be.
After some more tries I can get the database to open but it is empty.
Not sure if it is safe to re key in all the info of if there is something inherently wrong. Do you knoe of any diagnostics to be sure it is safe to add the data back in?
Thanks

They may be able to help you for a very reasonable fee. If you made a copy of your corrupted database before you tried to 'fix' it, they will probably have an improved chance to recover your data as well.
