I've over 40years IT experience but very little Access experience. Just simple queries, forms, reports, ... and always on a local DB.

Now, I have to use Access to make queries, reports, forms on an external (MariaDB) database and therefore, I'm looking for some help.

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Let's clarify something to make your life simpler. Making reports and queries is EXACTLY THE SAME for local tables and remote tables. It is making the table definitions point to the right place that is the trick. So focus on getting the table linkage right and then (for the most part) forget that it is an external database.
