Hello All,

A coleague of mine has creted an access database and meesed up when trying to add security. Now when you try to open the database you get an error message saying 'you do not have the necessary permissions to use the '****' object'. Is there anyway to reverse this kind of thing?

The colleague in question had already added a lot of data to the database before trying this.

When you add security a shortcut is created to access the db. This is the only way into the db now. It opens Access, loads the db and joins the correct security workgroup. Read the Microsoft Security faq and maybe you'll decide to keep the security but it also tells you how to remove it.

I was going to post the link to the faq here but MS website is having problems. I have posted it many times before. Do a search on user "Autoeng" and "security" as the keyword.

Also the security wizard created a backup of the db without security named same as db but with .bak ending. Change .bak to .mdb and you'll be back in business.
