I recently upgraded Access to 2007 from an earlier version. I have a substantial dB that includes a field that has photos of orchids. When I open that dB in Access 2007 the existing records show the pictures normally, but newly added records just show an icon of Photoshop rather than the actual picture. The entry in the table says "Package" rather than the name of the object photo. I presume that there is a setting that is different in this version than my prior one. This may be very simple, but I'm not a dB professional. Does anyone know how to get a photo to be visible in a table? Thanks in advance.

Where are the actual photos and if they are in a field in the db, what is the DataType of the field and how are you putting them in there?

The actual photos are in another C: folder. The data type is OLE object. I have been entering the photos by right clicking in the field box, clicking insert object, then create from file, which I point to.

I take it your db grows considerably each time you store another picture? Access was never very efficient at storing pictures until 2007. It now has the Attachment DataType that does a pretty good job but is not supported by earlier versions of Access. How many pictures do you have stored?

There are only about 400 photos. I put them into the dB (rather than linking). In my further surfing I noted that when Access doesn't recognize a file type (such as Photoshop), it puts Packet in the cell.

So if you changed your new photos to .jpg or .bmp they will display as expected?

As silly as that seems, I haven't tried that yet. I will and get back to you. Thanks.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work either. I find it amazing that Access doesn't routinely display a photo (jpeg, photoshop, whatever).

Hmmm...do you have all of the Graphics Filters installed?

I don't know. I just installed the product from the Office 2007 disk.

If you go to Add or Remove Programs and press Change for Office, it will let you see what has been installed. The Graphics Filters are under Office Shared Features>Converters and Filters.
