I have an access form that allows a user to browse to a specific file on the network. Currently im able to return the path of the file, but I would like to know on which server this file is located. Is their a function to return the server name of a file stored on the network?

Thanks in advance

The only way I know of is to use the WNetGetConnection API. You can pass it the drive letter of a mapped drive and it will return the UNC path, you can get the server name from that.

Do you have an example of how this API would be used in access?
