I'm no expert believe me. I've been working with access for 3yrs and I still don't know many things, everyday is a learnig curve in this business and I would not have believed that some of what I now know was even possible.

with this forum there's hope for all of us that'll we become the next Pat Hartman or Rich - Well I did say 'hope' but I believe they've got a good few years on me

I'll send some samples onto you once I get time to put some dummy data in.

i just realized that I sent all of you the version that I copied to try to get it to reduce its size. It usually opens a hidden form and then open the switchboard. Sorry for this blunder. Way to deploy Chewy!

That explains why no one was getting the errors you dont even have the form that emails me and copies the databse on startup. Man I though those were pretty slick too. Oh well.

also, how many users can work on a access database at the same time. is there a setting somewhere i should change to allow this. at the moment if 2 people try use our databse we get error messages like cant save at this time, being updated by other user...

it cant be open in exclusive mode by more than one person. You can change that by opening access up and there should be a check box Exclusive. Uncheck it.

I thought you might have a problem as the db was devloped in 2000 and I had to convert back to 97 format for you. So it may have lost some of it's functionality
