I used to know how to do this, but I forgot. How do I transfer 1 record from one database to another?

I have done this before by selecting the record from the table and copying (Ctrl-C) and then opening the other Db and highlighting the empty field at the bottom of the required table and pasting (Ctrl-V).

This, of course, assumes that the tables are identical in fieldnames and structure.

If an autonumber is used in both fields the paste action will deal with it...

Thank you I will give it a try.

You can use an append query to add a record from one database to a table in another another.

ghudson Thank you for answering.
This post is not meant to be argumentative, but just my honest thoughts. To tell you the truth I did not even know that this forum had an advance search. Once you mention it, I hunted around and found it. Then it had so many options to set it just wasn’t worth my time for such a minor question. In twenty years of computing, and hundreds of searches, especially with Microsoft, I don’t think I have found an answer to my question twice. In fact it is irritating with MS to type in a word and pull up 15 options and not one is even close to my topic. If I have a major question I usually go to my books and find it in the index a lot quicker. For a minor question I thought that is what the forum was for not to waste a lot of time searching for who knows how long. That the forum was so that if someone else had that information at their fingertips they could answer back, and save the other party a lot of time. Maybe I was mistaken.

Oh, and just so you know Dick7Access - that is in his signature so EVERYONE gets that when he posts. :)

I don't understand the last post on this tread. Did I say something wrong? Is somebody offended? If so I am sorry, that was not my intention.
My full name is Dick Sonier
best regards

Nobody is offended by your posting. Bob was just letting you know that the reference to searching for you answers is in my signature (see below). I google for the majority of my questions on a daily basis. I post questions here when I have exhausted my searching and need help. Which is what this forum is for. I usually find my answers through google. If you look at my post count, I have only started 77 threads out of the 6,031 posting I have made in this forum.

That is funny, me that is. I am getting dense in my old age. Wars are fought over misunderstandings. I thought Bob was making a remark about my dick7access, and I did not notice that the reference to the advance search was not a comment but your signature. My wife is right I look with my eyes close. Maybe that is why I don’t have much luck with search features. I guess it is lucky I got through 22 years in the Navy without killing myself.
