I don't know it should go to politic, to watercooler or Other Software section.
I only know for those of us outside the US border, it's a strange news.

Protector, an app that debuted today in the Apple App Store, bills itself as allowing users to hire on-demand personal armed security along with a lift.

Protector’s profile in the App Store reads: “With the click of a button, Protector users can schedule veteran and former law enforcement private security personnel to serve as personal protection when needed.” The service is currently only available in New York City and Los Angeles.

America is now heavily militarized with all these private security contractors…

Interesting that two anti gun blue cities offer this.

Having done body guard work in Manhattan, I'm curious as to price. We used to charge a fortune.

I wonder if they run a background on members and how serious that may be.
I can see some drug dealers may use them, ride around the city, collecting money from their distributers. Safe and with professsional body guards who are ready to die instead of them.

Wow, neat.. it's unfortunate that protection is needed, but best to have it if you need it

Cash businesses.
I don't know what that business is.
I'm not a specialist, but as far as I know, moving cash is done via bank deposit, unless it's the under table money. Whch ends up to the type of customers I had imagined.

Businesses who use cash, no credit cards.

For instance my old business partners brother. He managed taxi medallions for yellow cabs in NYC.
He would rent a cab to a driver for about $125 for an 8 hour shift (3 shifts a day, always in cash. The driver would keep whatever money they made.
He had about 175 cabs at the time so he pulled in about $60,000 a day, 24/7 all year. If he didn't make it to the bank for a few days he would have some serious cash on him so we'd do an escort to the bank

That reminds me of a White Collar episode about the million dollar taxi medallion

He's managing the cabs and presumably collecting the money for someone who owns the licences.

Whoever owns the licences has outlayed at say $100K each, or $17.5 million. On top of that, there's the purchase or lease of vehicles, insurance, repairs, overheads and loss of revenue when vehicles are off the road.
