I thought I knew the evolution of computers. I didn't know the half of it!

Edit:- as a mechanical minded soul, my guess is that by studying the mechanical method of calculus, I might actually come to understand it!

In this video Dr Andrew Morriss makes some fantastic points which are well worth listening to.

The development of high octane fuel which enabled the spitfire to out Gun the Germans in the second world war is a fascinating piece - It's near the end of the video.

Andrew describes the energy consumption of fridges and freezers rising as they became more prevalent and bigger. Then he shows a graph where there energy consumption drops consistently.
