I can't get into NCIS:LA.

Same here! The original is the best and the others are substandard copies...

I can't put my finger on how they did it, but every spin-off series of Star Trek was successful and became something unique in its own right.

NCIS spin-offs seemed to be so closely modeled to the original as to make you always compare and see the flaws in the copy....
