An interesting vid but the title is somewhat misleading. Ford didn't invent the V8, nor did he manufacture the first ones. They were in use in 1905 in French production, albeit that might not have been for automobiles. I suppose he can be given credit for figuring out how to mass produce it though.

I just watched this video on the development of the transistor and transistor radio in Japan after the Second World War. It's a marvellous video because they show you the shortcuts, tricks and the things they did to build these transistors with no money!

Wallows - Are You Bored Yet? (feat. Clairo) [Official Video]

I found this by accident when I was looking up bored on Google! I quite liked it..

I was flicking through the telly the other day, and came across a programme I've never seen before. It is called The Simpsons. It was really wierd, there are these yellow skinned people who obviously have a major liver problem given their colour. The wife has blue hair piled high on her head, and the man just eats a lot of doughnuts. The people in it seem to be deformed, maybe it's funny to laugh at disabled people in the USA. There are some children dotted about, but I can't see what their role is. I really think they need to change their hairdresser as whoever does it is a total idiot.
I didn't watch it all as I couldn't work out what the point of it was. It wasn't funny, so obviously not a comedy, and the story appeared vague. I came to the conclusion that this programme is appealing in some way to Americans, but am unclear if it is popular in the UK.
Very strange. Oh, one more thing, the mans voice seems the same as Cliff the postman in 'Cheers'.

I understand that it is very popular in the UK, however like you, I don't quite get the comedy in it. I do watch it occasionally, but generally avoid it. I'm wondering if it's because some of the comedy is based on USA issues?

Never did understand why it was so popular. It was in it's prime when I was in my mid-twenties so I was the intended audience, but I thought it was just plain stupid...

Though it is USA-based and is, in fact, quite popular here, I don't care for the style of humor either. I am definitely not a fan. It has been running here for over 20 years. It is intended as satirical but to me it comes across as just dumb. On the other hand, we have a quote from P.T. Barnum to the effect that (paraphrased) no one ever went broke by underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

What saddens me is that the U.K. must be having the same level of entertainment drought as we currently have in the U.S.A. We are seeing re-runs of old golf tournaments and "marathon" re-runs of old TV series. We get old sports - you get Simpsons re-runs. Ghastly.

Yes, The Simpsons if I remember was on Virgin (cable) telly, not normal telly.
Plus, we are getting reruns of old football (soccer) matches, lots of films - B rated though. Today, they are starting a rerun of Downton Abbey from the start, so that's good.
I'm glad most people here think The Simpsons is strange, I thought it was just me as I'm old.
Anyway, the sun is shining, and it's not windy so I'm off to sit in my garden and have a nice cup of tea.

I'm just waiting in breathless anticipation of the international Curling events. And maybe, if I'm lucky, we'll see some tiddlywinks tournaments.

At first glance this video sounds completely boring a video about coding? - The presenter, excellent! excellent dialogue, excellent content - just riveting!

Below I have picked out particular sections of the video that I found very interesting which you can skip straight to if you don't want to watch the whole lot. I watched the whole thing at double speed, and it's easily digestible at double speed, mind you I watch everything at double speed, so I might have a slight advantage!

I thought the synthesizer program Sonic pi was particularly interesting. I've never seen anything like it before!

I've started a separate thread to explore Sonic Pi... Click HERE:-
I hope to make some synthesizer programs and post them in The Thread, and if anyone else wants to make some synthesised music and post it there as well... Hopefully get a nice little thread going.

Now I should say I've got new musical ability at all! so it could be a complete load of duda...
