URGENT!!! field showing as the ID number...

When I run the report query, the city & state come up as the words but when I run the report print preview, it comes up as the numbers...why?:banghead:

More than likely you have a lookup field:

CRAP! yes I do. now in easy to understand terms...how do I fix it so it comes up. I have a look up field for the dealer name and it is coming up fine.

another note...If I just add the city field or state field to the report...it works fine but if I =Trim for the city/state...it comes up with the numbers. ????

I'd get rid of the field, but as #5 mentions you can use a combo on the report. I'd simply base the report on a query that joined the two tables together, enabling you to include the text field on the report.

If you return the fields in a query you can do anything you want with them.

I built the combo box and a query with the field. also, the entire report is based on a query.

sorry if this is frustrating to you. sometimes I need things spelled out for me.

You would refer to the fields in the lookup tables, like StateLong
