GUYS!!!

I know many people prefer to work on a specific access release - '97 , 2000 , 2002.

Having designed much in access 97. I find it very easy and fast to use. However I do want to progress and move on.

many in the past have said varying comments regarding each release.

I'm about to embark on another database which will use outlook very heavily for appointments emails, etc.

My database will need the best of durability, speed and email/web application potential.

I know a lot about the version I use but i only know a little about 2000 (which hs been described before as being slow) or 2002.

Anyone have any feedback or tips

Hope all is well
Cheers
PAUL

I haven't done "real" programming in several years, and then it was in 97 (job transfer, new duties). I did basic things, but nothing advanced.

I'll let you know about more advanced thigns in a few weeks <grin>, but I have to say that I prefer XP for the routine things.

I like the changes.

THe only thing I DO NOT like, is that Access doesn't have the version interchangability that Word and Excel possess. Hence, I often design things in XP at work, then redesign the forms, etc. to 97 (what everyone else has).

Don't know if my offerings help you or not, but...

I was on Access 97 and just switched my DBs to 2002. It is a bit slower but not that much. I had a couple of bugs at first ( probably bad programming ;) ) but now it's ok. The only thing that I dislike is that some people are still using '97 and they can't access my DBs now.
I know I should have thaught about this before, but...
Anyway, I think that 2002 is good but I ain't an expert. So better of waiting for other replies. ;)

I have no experience with XP (2002) but I know that it is far easier to do web-based things starting with AC2K, because of the ability to directly build .ASP pages. Ask yourself how much web/DB interaction you need. If it is more than just a very small amount, you probably would do better to move on from AC97 to one of the newer versions.
