Well this article was a bit of an eye opener for me because they state that 22 over 7 is not a good approximation of pi...
A better approximation is 355 over 113, but it's still an approximation even though it's more accurate than 22 over 7.
But they appear to have come up with a quantum way of handling pi which I thought was quite interesting you might want to read this article:-
