As Doc has commented, this needs to be done every place you want to specify how to display your difference. What you end up doing is saving your "Number" in a text field. You then need to figure out how long your number is then using the Instr function to find where your decimal place is. You then get to subtract the position from your strings length to calculate how many digits of precision you need.
Once you know how many digits, you need to change your calculated values format to be this.
Except you actually need to do the above for both scales, figure out which you will use, and then set the format.
I can completely understand keeping exactly what the scale shows, but I think you and your users will find having a set format for the difference much easier to track.
