I am using Office/Access 2003 and Windows XP with service pack 3 etc downloaded.

If I open an Access 2003 db it opens in Access 2000 format. When I create a new db it is in Access 2000 format. How can I set the default format to Access 2003?

I have even unloaded Office/Access 2003 and loaded a new copy of it.

I don't know if this is a related issue, but I am trying to use the DatePart function on a form as in:

=DatePart("yyyy",[TDate])

I am getting #Error

Could there be a different format for Access 2000?

The place to change the default is Tools/Options/Advanced

OK This goes back to another issue I had with the tool bar menu. I think I will have take this notebook into to someone locally to see if they can clear it up. I think I am missing an item on the Toolbars Menu, because I can't seem to get the Tools dropdown list to appear. I was hoping reloading Office would clear it up.

Oh well.

Is the problem with the DatePart Function part of the same issue?

What you actually have on the form is:

=DatePart([TDate],"yyyy")

so you have the arguments reversed.

Thanks for that.

I now have =DatePart("yyyy",[TDate])

The first date in the table is 01-Jan-2008, the date that shows in the form is 19-Jun-1905. I am using English - United States regional settings, but that shouldn't change the value - it might change the format, but not the value.

What's bizarre is the date is correct in a report. So I deleted the form and rebuilt it - and now it all works.

As I said - bizarre. Thanks for your help.

(BTW - I have arranged for someone to come and fix my menu bar issues)

Actually I noticed that. All you had to do is take the format off the textbox. Sorry, I should have mentioned it.

That's OK.

I got a computer tech to come over to see what was going on with some of the issues I was having - no menu bar, losing the frame on the db window etc etc, default version as Access 2000 even though Access 2000 wasn't loaded. It turns something (actually many things) in the registry had to be reset.

So no new computer, and everything now works - including the above function.

Thanks for all your patience
