Because obviously "I don't want convicted criminals to have easy access to guns" means "I hate America and am actively trying to destroy it."

We had a case here a few years ago, that one of the major suppliers of guns was a ex us marine - smuggling in guns he bought legally in the US. These guns where responsible for a high percentage of the gun crime here.

The lax legal supply - in the US, directly affects us in the UK. If this was Afganistan, supplying terrorists and opium .............

knowing the guns laws here in the USA, I have a problem with him buying a large number of guns legally. That would put up a big red flag. However, on the Black market, you can find anything if you have the money. The present laws or future laws would not address that or fix it. If he stopped buying guns from the USA, then he would buy them from China, Korea, Russia, etc... Get my drift here?

What about the 48 students that where killed in Nigeria. Where are their gun laws?

You are right about some conservatives on background checks. I am as conservative as it gets but I am for background checks. Don't forget there are probable as many variations of conservative as there are degrees of liberals. IMO I think there is a little bit of liberal in all conservatives, and a little bit of conservatives in all liberal. Palm print firearms??? I will have to think on that one. As far as confiscating all guns right now is not in the works, however its call the one penny policy. Example: How can anyone object to a one penny tax on Item X to help the poor X. Next year comes another penny, and the year after a nickel.

That's just a rehash of the slippery slope argument, and by and large it tends to be overblown.

The smartguns I was talking about basically have a chip in the grip with either fingerprints or biometric data on it, and simply do not fire if the user doesn't match the data. There is no actual requirement that the data be uploaded to a government database, but the NRA is reacting to the invention as if it calls for the immediate upload of fingerprints, dental records, and DNA profile of every gun owner in America. Last I checked, they were flat-out trying to stop the very production of the gun.

It's the same kind of fearmongering which leads to people voting for laws explicitly banning the enforcement of Sharia law despite the fact that the US Constitution already does the same bloody thing.

Hell, the government has all sorts of information on me, including work and residence history, acquaintances, civil and criminal records (not that there is one of the latter), and fingerprints. (Came with getting my TS/SCI some years back.) Anyway, to this day, they have yet to kick in my door, take away my weapons, and drag me to the nearest FEMA camp.

Yes I am comparing militant Nigeria and ISIS to the US as well in it attitude to guns. Maniacs.

Did you here the recent story about Brussels(a true story). Well, it seems they (Muslims)have around 1/4 or more of the population in Brussels and more than that in certain areas of Brussels. There were some dignitaries walking and checking out the area. As they walked through this part of Brussels, they could see people pulling out their phones to make a call. Within about 5 minutes they were confronted by an armed man who told them to leave the area because they were in danger for their lives. The one, a leader, from Brussels told him they would do no such thing that this was Brussels and he was the Sec. of State ( or its equivalent). The armed man then told them if they did not leave they would be killed because this was not Brussels but it was now Morocco. They left henceforth and in a hurry.

Moral to the story, When the Muslims get enough 1/4 or more of your population, it will then be their country and there is not a thing you can do about it. You have no guns.They will run the government so your politicians will not have a say and they will run your military. How long does it take to get 25% of your countries population. In the USA a long time since we have about 300 million. but in your tiny (but large) country of 64 million give or take a thousand or two, all they have to get is 16 million. I read somewhere that in 2011, the Muslim population there was already about 4.5% or 3 million.You guys are good at math, give us a figure in years that it will take to reach the 25% mark.Especially if they are having 3-4 kids. (5-10 years or less). Gentlemen, the clock is ticking and you are in trouble.Yet, you whine about the USA and our perceived problem with guns.

As D7A stated: it is our right and our liberty that is held in check by those guns. The liberals that want to ban guns in this country are only about 15% and not likely to grow bigger anytime soon. We take our liberty seriously and in the end will let none take it from us. Your country of all people should understand that.

I tried googling a few terms (Muslim, Official, Threaten, etc.) but couldn't find that story. I'd like to read further on it. Do you have a link?

I did find plenty of evidence that Belgium has a high muslim population and that there was at least one one recent religious whackjob who killed some people and was muslim. But that's 1 out of 250,000 who has been proven to be dangerous, so I looked for some official or well-reported article on this 'problem'.

The first few links I found when I searched for any increase in crime because of Muslims included:

I was just unable to find anything regarding the story about the government official being run out of the neighborhood and being told that the city was now part of Morocco.
